Welcome to “The Art of Living in Joy” book study. My name is _____ and I will be the leader for the meeting today.
Would all who care to, please join me in praying the Serenity Prayer:
“God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
At this time, we will introduce ourselves by first name or chosen nickname only. This is not to embarrass you but to get to know you. If you are comfortable doing so please share from what corner of the globe you are calling it from. In addition, please state whether you are available to read today.
Introductions
Welcome to anyone choosing to remain silent; silent, witnessing participation is equally as welcome as active participation.
The focus of this book study is the book “The Art of Living in Joy – Five Practical Steps to Transform Life Challenges into Joy and Harmony,” by Dr. Arayeh Norouzi.
Dr. Arayeh believes the human world was originally designed to be a playground for us to perpetually revel in the joy that is inherently our birthright. We are supposed to enjoy living! Yet we were not taught how to do so by our caregivers who didn’t know themselves, and neither did the school system or society in general. She trusts there is a new wave of consciousness in the world, and it is now time to claim our rights.
With this book and the five-step system, she hopes you will be led to tap into your own inner wisdom by cultivating awareness of your past conditioning, rewiring the limiting programs, and adopting more empowering and compassionate ways of living.
Dr. Arayeh also incorporates the Conscious Parenting Method, developed by Dr. Shefali Tsabary, which is defined as follows:
Conscious parenting focuses on parental mindfulness, awareness, and emotional regulation. Conscious parents monitor their own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to make thoughtful and emotionally-centered decisions when responding to their children. This parenting philosophy aims to prevent negative parenting patterns by encouraging curiosity and mutual collaboration.
This Friday Book Study is structured in the following way:
- Participants take turns reading small, multi-paragraph sections of the book
- Participants share at each pause between readings for approx. 4 minutes each (self-timed)
- Participants keep their sharing in the format of personal understanding or experience
