1. Welcome, my name is _____________, and I’ll be our moderator today. This meeting is for members of Violence Anonymous who are interested in the NYCNVC Compassion Course or The Compassion Book to review the weekly readings and practices in a safe community.

2. Serenity Prayer & Opening: Will all who care to unmute and join me in the Serenity Prayer…

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And wisdom to know the difference.”

It is possible to become triggered in this or any meeting. If we get upset by what is shared we take responsibility for the feeling, and use the tools of VA to process the trigger and regain a neutral state of mind.

3. Member introduction: For this session we ask all attending to introduce themselves to encourage connection and compassion between us.

4. Reading: Today we’ll be reading week or chapter # _____. Would someone be willing to start with The Concept? (As needed during the reading, make room for folks to share their response to the reading.)

Any thoughts on or reactions to this section?

5. More Reading: Who would like to read the In Practice section?

Thanks! Any thoughts on or reactions to this section?

6. Practices: Would someone read the practices for the week? (Leave room for questions or discussion after each.)

  • If there is time, and the practice fits we can work on the practices together.

7. Closing (with a few minutes left in the hour): Thank you all for sharing and participating in the session today. Will all who care to join me in the Gratitude version of the Serenity Prayer? (we say thank you for each of the phrases)…

“God thank you for the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Thank you for the courage to change the things I can,
Thank you for the wisdom to know the difference.”

8. Announcements & reminders: Are there any announcements or upcoming events? Would someone be willing to moderate the meeting next week?
